Grape hyacinths
Muscari Mill.
Muscari is a genus with more than 50 species, belonging to the asparagus family. Although none of the representatives of this genus occur naturally in the flora of Poland, the Armenian grape hyacinth(Muscari armeniacum) and the small-flowered grape hyacinth(Muscari botryoides) are often planted in gardens.
Unlike narcissi, grape hyacinths(Muscari Mill.) are planted in autumn and dug in late June and early July. Grape hyacinths produce a large number of adventitious bulbs, so they quickly form extensive, dense clumps. It is worth keeping this in mind before putting grape hyacinths into the soil and loosen the compacted substrate, as well as leave several centimeters of space from other plants. Grape hyacinths prefer wetter sites, so they will do well around ponds or ponds.
