Cherry blossom 'Kanzan'
Prunus serrulata 'Kanzan'
Although only two of its species are found in its natural state in Poland, the cherry tree records as many as 60 of them, scattered throughout the temperate zone of the northern hemisphere. The phenomenon of cherry blossoms is best known and valued most highly by the Japanese, who even have a traditional custom of admiring its blossoms, called "Hanami." Flowering time lasts for only two weeks in March or April, so the fleeting beauty of these unique trees is considered a true wonder of nature for good reason. The cherry blossom is a symbol of Japan. It is one of the most beautifully blooming trees in spring. Its fruits are not edible. It prefers a sunny position. It is quite resistant to drought. It should not be planted in areas of Poland with severe frosts, as it is sensitive to frost. The cherry blossom does not tolerate salinity of the soil.
