Coffea arabica
Coffea arabica L.
The coffea arabica, which gives birth to the noble beans of the arabica variety we love, comes from the area of Ethiopia, Mozambique and around the African Great Lakes. This extremely valuable species for us is grown in the intertropical zone not only in Africa, but also in South America and on islands such as Java and Sumatra. Coffea arabica needs not only the right quality of soil or sunlight and humidity, but also the right altitude - otherwise, as on the Kenyan plantation belonging to the heroine of the film Goodbye Africa, coffee will not take root on too high an area. On the other hand, in home cultivation, coffee does not cause much trouble, and in addition to its valuable beans, it also delights with its white, fragrant flowers.
