French hydrangea is planted in many European gardens, although its native land is far Asia. Despite its exotic origins, hydrangeas are associated with English manor houses, where heroines from Jane Austen's novels stroll by, admiring the swollen flowers among the luscious greenery. Garden hydrangeas like permeable, humus and moist soils. They grow well in sunny to semi-shaded positions, but they feel best in a maritime climate: moist and mild, so they require intensive watering, especially on dry and sunny days. 'Jip Blue' is a variety with spectacular dark blue flower color. It is also perfect as a cut flower, as well as for dry compositions.
