Dryopteris filix-mas
Dryopteris is a genus of ferns included in the Dryopteris family. The most common representative of this genus is male fern (from the Latin Dryopteris filix-mas), also known as male fern, and the folk name is - forest fern.
It is found in most parts of Europe, Asia and North America. It is most often found in shady forests, mostly deciduous, along streams or on mountain slopes. In Poland it is common, and in the mountains up to the dwarf pine floor. It prefers shady, moist sites.
