Roadside flowers
True and greatly underestimated treasures - they appear on every patch of land, if only we allow them to spread freely. In the second half of summer, these beautiful, useful and undemanding plants decorate meadows, wastelands, parks and uncut green belts in cities with their flowers. The growing fashion for flower meadows in urban spaces allows these and many other beautiful plants to flourish. Reducing the mowing of grass has many positive effects: meadow greenery lowers the air temperature in cities, excellently purifies the air by absorbing dust, and is a benefit for countless insects.
Chicorytraveler(Cichorium intybus) - a perennial of the asteraceae family, its stiff stems reach a height of about 1 m. Flowers open in the sun, have a blue, or blue-purple intense color. Chicory traveler is a long-known medicinal plant - its roots can be a substitute for coffee, while the herb regulates the flow of bile, has a positive effect on the digestive system. The leaves of chicory are perfect for salads, and the flowers can be an excellent decoration for dishes.
Red clover(Trifolium pratense) - a popular legume of the bean family. We can find it literally everywhere. Green shoots and leaves are a valuable and tasty animal food, readily eaten by ruminant species. Clover flowers attract pollinating insects - it is a melliferous plant. Thanks to its high content of flavonoids and anthocyanins, it helps the circulatory system by strengthening blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. Its isoflavone content alleviates menopausal symptoms and reduces the risk of osteoporosis.
Autumn hawkbit(Leontodon autumnalis L.) - a common perennial in the aster family. Long stems are topped with flower baskets of sunny yellow color. Leaves usually pinnate or coarsely toothed form a rosette at the base of the plant. The flowers of hawkbit are similar to dandelion, but slightly smaller - they form charming, luminous accents among late summer flowering plants. Eagerly visited by pollinating insects.
